Welcome! This Luna Smart Control Module Instruction guide will walk you through setting up your Luna Smart Control Module, making it easy to integrate with your smart home system. Whether you’re connecting to Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings or Amazon Alexa, we’ve got step-by-step instructions to help you get started.
Steps to Connect Your Curtain & Blind Motors to Apple HomeKit
1. Ensure Your Apple Devices Are Ready
Before installation, make sure you have all adequate materials in hand.
- iPhone/iPad: Must be running iOS 16.5 or later.
- Home Hub (optional but recommended): If you want remote control and automation, you’ll need an Apple HomePod (Mini/2nd Gen), Apple TV 4K (2021 or later), or an iPad set as a Home Hub.
- Wi-Fi/Thread Network: Make sure your home network is stable. If your chip uses Thread, ensure you have a Thread Border Router (e.g., HomePod Mini or Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen).
2. Put the Chip in Pairing Mode
- Power on the motor and press the button on the Smart Control Module.
- When the green light starts flashing, it’s in pairing mode and ready for setup.
3. Open Apple Home App
- Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the “+” (Add Accessory) button.
- Select “Add Matter Device.”
4. Scan the Matter QR Code
- The Matter QR code should be on the chip, the motor manual, or the packaging.
- If you don’t have a QR code, select “Set Up Without a Code”, and your iPhone will try to discover the Matter device automatically.
5. Follow the On-Screen Instructions
- Apple Home will detect the Matter-certified Smart Control Module.
- Assign it a room and name it (e.g., “Living Room Blinds”).
- Tap “Add to Home” to finalize the setup.
6. Test and Automate
- Open the Home app and control the blinds manually.
- Use Siri commands (e.g., “Hey Siri, open the living room blinds.”).
- Set up automations (e.g., opening at sunrise, closing at night).
Steps to Connect Your Curtain & Blind Motors to Google Home
Since your Smart Control Module has built-in Matter firmware, you can directly pair it with Google Home using the Matter setup process.
1. Prepare Your Google Home Setup
Before installation, make sure you have all adequate materials in hand.
Before pairing, ensure you have:
A Matter-compatible Google Home controller, such as:
- Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen)
- Nest Hub Max
- Nest Mini (2nd Gen)
- Nest Wifi Pro
- Pixel 6, 7, or newer (with Android 13+)
The latest version of the Google Home app on your iPhone (iOS 16.5+) or Android (13+).
A stable Wi-Fi or Thread network (if your device supports Thread, ensure a Thread Border Router is available—e.g., Nest Hub 2nd Gen).
2. Put the Smart Control Module in Pairing Mode
- Power on the motor and ensure it is ready.
- Press and hold the pairing button on the Smart Control Module.
- When the green light starts flashing, it is in Matter pairing mode.
3. Open the Google Home App
- Open the Google Home app on your phone.
- Tap “+” (Add Device).
- Select “New Device”, then tap “Set up a Matter-enabled device.”
4. Scan the Matter QR Code
- Find the Matter QR code on the chip, motor manual, or packaging.
- Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code.
- If you don’t have a QR code, select “Set Up Without a Code”, and Google Home will attempt to discover the Matter device automatically.
5. Follow the On-Screen Setup
- Google Home will detect the Smart Control Module and guide you through setup.
- Assign the room and give the device a name (e.g., “Living Room Blinds”).
- Tap “Done” to finalize the setup.
6. Test & Control Your Blinds via Google Home
Use Google Assistant Voice Commands
- “Hey Google, open the living room blinds.”
- “Hey Google, close the bedroom blinds.”
Control via the Google Home App
- Open Google Home App → Tap your blinds to open/close them.
Create Automations
- Open Google Home App → Tap Automations → Create a new routine.
- Example: “Open blinds at sunrise” or “Close blinds at 9 PM.”
Steps to Connect Your Curtain & Blind Motors to Samsung SmartThings
1. Prepare Your SmartThings Setup
Before installation, make sure you have all adequate materials in hand.
Before starting, make sure you have:
A SmartThings-compatible Matter controller, such as:
- Samsung SmartThings Hub (latest Matter-supported version)
- Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 13+ with SmartThings app
- Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) or Amazon Echo (with Matter support)
A stable Wi-Fi network (preferably 2.4GHz for best connectivity).
If your device supports Thread, ensure you have a Thread Border Router (e.g., SmartThings Station, Nest Hub, or Echo 4th Gen).
2. Put the Smart Control Module in Pairing Mode
- Power on the motor and ensure it is ready.
- Press and hold the pairing button on the Smart Control Module.
- When the green light starts flashing, it is in Matter pairing mode.
3. Open Samsung SmartThings App
- Open the SmartThings app on your Samsung phone or tablet.
- Tap “+” (Add Device) in the top-right corner.
- Select “Add Matter Device.”
4. Scan the Matter QR Code
- The Matter QR code should be on the chip, motor manual, or packaging.
- If you don’t have a QR code, select “Set Up Without a Code”, and SmartThings will try to discover the Matter device automatically.
5. Follow the On-Screen Setup
- SmartThings will detect your Smart Control Module and guide you through the setup.
- Assign the room and give the device a name (e.g., “Bedroom Blinds”).
- Tap “Add to Home” to finish the setup.
6. Test & Control Your Blinds
Control via the SmartThings App
- Open the app and test opening/closing your blinds.
Use Bixby, Alexa, or Google Assistant
- Example command: “Hey Bixby, close the bedroom blinds.”
- If linked to Alexa or Google Assistant, you can use voice commands there too.
Create Automations
- Open SmartThings Automations.
- Set conditions like “Close blinds at sunset” or “Open blinds when motion is detected”.
Steps to Connect Your Curtain & Blind Motors to Amazon Alexa
1. Prepare Your Alexa Setup
Before installation, make sure you have all adequate materials in hand.
Before pairing, ensure you have:
A Matter-compatible Alexa device (this acts as your Matter Controller), such as:
- Amazon Echo (4th Gen) or later
- Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) or later
- Echo Dot (5th Gen) or later
The latest version of the Alexa app on your phone (iOS 16.5+ or Android 13+ recommended).
A stable Wi-Fi network (preferably 2.4GHz for best connectivity).
If your Smart Control Module uses Thread, ensure you have a Thread Border Router (like an Echo 4th Gen).
2. Put the Smart Control Module in Pairing Mode
- Power on the motor and ensure it is ready.
- Press and hold the pairing button on the Smart Control Module.
- When the green light starts flashing, it is in Matter pairing mode.
3. Open the Alexa App
- Open the Alexa app on your iPhone or Android phone.
- Tap “Devices” at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap “+” (Add Device) in the top-right corner.
- Select “Matter Device” from the list.
4. Scan the Matter QR Code
- Find the Matter QR code (on the chip, motor manual, or packaging).
- Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code.
- If you don’t have a QR code, select “Set Up Without a Code”, and Alexa will try to detect the Matter device automatically.
5. Follow the On-Screen Setup
- Alexa will discover your Smart Control Module and connect it to your Wi-Fi or Thread network.
- Assign it a room and give it a name (e.g., “Living Room Blinds”).
- Tap “Add to Home” to finalize the setup.
6. Test & Control Your Blinds
Use Alexa Voice Commands
- “Alexa, open the living room blinds.”
- “Alexa, close the bedroom blinds.”
Control via the Alexa App
- Open the Alexa app → Go to Devices → Tap your blinds to open/close them.
Set Up Routines & Automations
- Open Alexa App → Tap More → Select Routines.
- Example: “Close blinds at 8 PM” or “Open blinds when sunrise is detected.”
